What to bring, and which steps get repeated · Seongmo Dental Clinic, Sungshin Women’s University Station · Board-certified specialist in Integrated Dentistry
💡 The short answer. You can. The new clinic cannot tell by eye how far treatment has progressed, so it checks again from the beginning, and some steps may be repeated in the process.
Bringing copies of the radiographs and records from your previous clinic reduces that repetition.
Seongmo Dental Clinic re-evaluates a transferred tooth on CBCT and then carries out only the remaining steps.

Root canal treatment is divided into stages, and the result of each stage remains inside the tooth, so it can be continued.
There are two conditions: the temporary filling must not have come out, and no more than two weeks should have passed since the last appointment.
If the temporary filling is lost or left too long, the canal becomes reinfected and disinfection has to start over.
Treatment is possible without any of this. It simply adds to the checking.
Seongmo Dental Clinic looks at a transferred tooth in this order. CBCT confirms the number of canals, the state of the root tip and whether there is a crack.
The temporary filling is removed and the canal opened to see the stage directly.
Canal length is measured again, irrigation and Plazen plasma disinfection are carried out, and then we move on to the remaining steps.
A disinfection stage is sometimes repeated in this process, which is not a loss from switching but a check for safety.
If a canal was missed at the previous clinic, this is when it is found.
Root canal treatment is a covered item, with a fee calculated for each stage carried out.
Stages repeated at the new clinic for confirmation may be charged again. The amounts are in the tens of thousands of won, and Seongmo Dental Clinic gives the remaining steps and their cost in writing at the first appointment.
The cost structure is set out in how much a root canal costs.
If pain has been unchanged for weeks during treatment, if you are shown no images and given no explanation, or if the plan for a crown after sealing is unclear, switching and having it checked again is better for the tooth.
Conversely, if you are just before sealing and there is no particular discomfort, finishing at that clinic reduces repetition.
The normal range of pain after root canal treatment in is pain after a root canal normal may help you judge.
We do not treat a transferred tooth any differently. After re-evaluation we carry out the remaining steps and complete the crown in-house on the day of sealing. The process is on the root canal treatment page. 30 seconds on foot from Exit 2 of Sungshin Women’s University Station, +82-2-922-3966.
If I switch partway, does it start over?
Not entirely. The stage of checking the canal and the disinfection may be repeated, but canals already treated are carried on from where they are.
Can I switch without records from the previous clinic?
Yes. The stage can be established with CBCT and direct inspection; having the records simply shortens the checking.
How do I get a copy of my records?
Request them from the clinic that was treating you. Patients can obtain them on request, and it is worth asking for copies of the radiographs at the same time.
How long can a tooth stay under a temporary filling?
Having the next appointment within two weeks is safe. If the temporary filling comes out, come in straight away even without pain.

Seongmo Dental Clinic opened in 1998. I have held this position as the third director since April 2022, and I have one standard for choosing equipment: if I would not use it on my own family, I do not use it on my patients.
One more scanner must not mean more treatment. If anything, it should mean cutting less, extracting less and finishing in one visit, from a more accurate original.
The goal is not to be first with new equipment, but to offer the better of what is possible today to the patient sitting in the chair.
