You've been telling yourself "scaling is just supposed to hurt and sting."
Now warm water and fine powder
wash your gums clean.
Seongmo Dental Clinic is the only clinic in Seongbuk-gu running the full Swiss EMS Prophylaxis Master system. Its four integrated functions — a warm-water system, intelligent ultrasonic scaling (PIEZON® NO PAIN), subgingival cleaning (PERIOFLOW®), and surface cleansing (AIRFLOW®) — work together to reduce pain, noise, sensitivity, and irritation.
Seongbuk-gu Seongmo Dental Clinic EMS Airflow Powder Scaling
From care that scrapes with sharp instruments, to care that washes with warm water and soft powder— a system that changes the standard.
Seongbuk-gu powder scaling —
what's different about it?
The EMS Prophylaxis Master is a preventive-care device that sprays fine powder, water, and air to wash away plaque, stains, and subgingival bacterial biofilm. Seongmo Dental Clinic uses this powder cleaning together with ultrasonic scaling.
Many people put off scaling because of the pain, sensitivity, and the noise of an instrument scraping their teeth. Seongmo Dental Clinic introduced a completely different approach to gum care to break that stereotype.
Swiss EMS's Prophylaxis Master is a system designed to solve the drawbacks of conventional scaling — pain, noise, sensitivity, and irritation. Its four core functions work together seamlessly, turning scaling and gum treatment from something painful into refreshing, comfortable care.
EMS Prophylaxis Master Core Technology
Warm-Water System — Blocking Sensitivity Pain at the Source
PIEZON® NO PAIN — Intelligent Tartar Removal
PERIOFLOW® — Managing Deep Below the Gumline
AIRFLOW® — Irritation-Free Surface Cleansing
Seongmo Dental Clinic provides all of this premium care at the standard National Health Insurance scaling/gum treatment rate, with no extra charge.
Why doesn't it sting?
Warm Water and Intelligent Power
Rinse water is delivered warm, close to body temperature, and the ultrasonic tip's power automatically adjusts to how hard the tartar is, reducing sensitivity and damage to the tooth surface.
Sensitivity is usually caused by cold water and excessive instrument pressure. For people with receding gums, exposed roots, or sensitive teeth in particular, conventional scaling used to mean gritting through it.
Seongmo Dental Clinic reduces this burden by combining warm-water rinsing with intelligent ultrasonic scaling. It applies more force where tartar is hard and lowers power on clean tooth surfaces, avoiding unnecessary friction.
Who We Recommend This For
Sensitive for Days After Scaling Before
Receding Gums with Exposed Roots
Sensitive to Dental Noise/Vibration
Not scaling you have to grit through — care that feels refreshing afterward.
Below the Gums and Around Implants —
how do we manage them?
PERIOFLOW® uses a soft, specialized nozzle to spray fine powder into gum pockets, cleaning deep areas that hand instruments can't reach and biofilm around implants.
Periodontal disease starts with the bacterial biofilm inside the gum pocket. Scraping this area out with a sharp instrument is effective but comes with pain and gum damage, and has limitations on implant surfaces.
Powder cleaning flows into curved surfaces and around screw threads that instruments can't reach. This matters especially for the routine care that keeps an implant lasting long-term. Seongmo Dental Clinic manages progress by also checking inflammation and bacterial activity with Q-ray.
Implant Maintenance
Peri-Implantitis Progresses Without Pain
We Check Occlusion Too
An implant's lifespan isn't decided by the surgery — it continues through maintenance.
Coffee/Tobacco Stains —
can they be lightened without whitening?
AIRFLOW® fine powder removes hardened surface stains without damage, often restoring much of your teeth's original color even before any whitening.
There are broadly two reasons teeth look yellow: surface stains, and the tooth's own underlying shade. Stains improve significantly with cleaning, while the tooth's own shade is a matter for professional whitening.
Seongmo Dental Clinic first removes stains with powder cleaning, then recommends Osstem Beautis Light professional whitening if needed. Following this order reduces unnecessary whitening and makes results easier to predict.

Powder Scaling — Glossary
- AIRFLOW®
- AIRFLOW®: EMS's cleaning method that sprays fine powder, water, and air to remove plaque and stains from the tooth surface.
- PERIOFLOW®
- PERIOFLOW®: A dedicated nozzle system for cleaning inside gum pockets and around implants.
- PIEZON® NO PAIN
- PIEZON® NO PAIN: Ultrasonic scaler technology that automatically adjusts power based on tartar hardness.
- Periodontal Pocket
- A pocket formed when the gum separates from the tooth. The deeper it is, the more easily bacterial biofilm accumulates.
- Peri-Implantitis
- Inflammation of the gum and bone around an implant. Pain is minimal, so regular checkups matter.
- GBT
- Prophylaxis Master: A preventive care protocol that proceeds in the order diagnosis → stain removal → tartar removal → check.
Seongbuk-gu EMS Powder Scaling — FAQ
Is powder scaling really painless?
Warm-water rinsing and intelligent ultrasonic power adjustment greatly reduce sensitivity and pain. That said, some discomfort may remain if gum inflammation is severe or tartar has hardened over a long time, in which case anesthesia can be added if needed.
Is this covered by National Health Insurance?
Seongmo Dental Clinic provides EMS Prophylaxis Master care at the standard National Health Insurance scaling/gum treatment rate, with no extra charge. National Health Insurance scaling applies once a year, and periodontal treatment scope depends on diagnosis.
Will my teeth get whiter?
Surface stains from coffee, black tea, and tobacco are removed, revealing your original tooth color. Brightening the tooth's own underlying shade is a matter for whitening, which we can arrange separately if needed.
Can I get this even if I have implants?
The PERIOFLOW® nozzle is designed for cleaning around implants, reaching areas that are hard to manage with instruments. It's recommended for implant maintenance.
Does it wear down or damage teeth?
Powder cleaning uses soft, fine powder to minimize enamel damage, and the ultrasonic tip also lowers power on clean tooth surfaces.
How often should I get this?
We generally recommend a 6-month to 1-year interval, but for those with a history of periodontitis or with implants, maintenance every 3-4 months may be recommended. Individual intervals are advised after diagnosis.
