Dental Implants in Seoul
Seongmo Dental Clinic has placed dental implants in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul since 1998. Every surgical and prosthetic step is performed by the director, a board-certified specialist in Integrated Dentistry, at our clinic 30 seconds from Sungshin Women’s University Station, Exit 2.
30-Second Summary
- Same-day provisional — If initial stability requirements are met (diameter 4.0mm / length 8.5mm / torque 30N·cm or higher), a provisional tooth can be fitted the same day as extraction.
- Treatment duration — Final prosthesis after 1.5–6 months of osseointegration; varies with the extent of bone grafting.
- Choosing a method — Overdenture, IARPD, full-arch implants, All-on-X (4–8 implants), or full mouth rehabilitation, decided after diagnosis.
- Cost & warranty — Itemized fees published for every fixture brand; 5-year warranty after the prosthesis is completed.
Why hurry? What happens inside your mouth if you leave a gap untreated?
01. Adjacent teeth tilt
Neighboring teeth tilt into the empty space, throwing off the entire bite. The tilted teeth can even leave too little room to place an implant.
02. Opposing teeth extrude
A tooth that has lost its opposing partner erupts further into the empty space. If this worsens, even a previously healthy tooth may need treatment.
03. Jawbone resorption
Without the stimulation of chewing, the alveolar bone gradually shrinks. The longer treatment is delayed, the larger — and more costly — the required bone graft becomes.
In short, the longer a missing tooth is left untreated, the larger the scope of implant treatment becomes. Fast, but only as much as necessary — that is how Seongmo Dental Clinic approaches implant treatment.
10-Second Self-Check: Which situation matches you right now?
Tap the box that matches your situation to jump straight to that explanation.
- CASE 1 — One or two teeth are missing, or about to be extracted. Start by checking whether a same-day provisional is possible.
- CASE 2 — I was told I don’t have enough bone in the upper molar area. Piezo sinus lift surgery solves this.
- CASE 3 — I have almost no teeth left, and dentures are uncomfortable. All-on-X — same-day provisional, full-arch reconstruction.
- CASE 4 — I’m not sure which method is right for me. Compare all five methods in a single table.
Is a same-day provisional possible?
When the initial stability conditions (diameter, length, torque value) are met, Seongmo Dental Clinic can fit a provisional tooth on the day of surgery. This is especially effective for the front teeth (anterior region), where appearance matters most.
Providing a same-day provisional whenever possible is Seongmo Dental Clinic’s immediate-loading principle. It is not possible in every case — the director makes the final decision after 3D CT analysis and after confirming the initial stability torque value at the time of placement.
Key Requirements for a Same-Day Provisional
- Fixture diameter 4.0mm or greater · length 8.5mm or greater
- Initial stability of 30N·cm or higher (for full-arch cases: 6 or more implants in the upper jaw / 4–5 or more in the lower jaw)
- Final decision made after 3D CT analysis and confirmation of the torque value at placement
Anterior teeth (front teeth): When the initial stability conditions are met, a provisional tooth can be fitted the same day. This is especially effective in eliminating the aesthetic burden of going without a tooth.
Posterior teeth (molars): Considered case-by-case for multiple placements — the decision is made after evaluating jawbone condition and initial fixation strength. It requires precise 3D CT planning and a digital implant workflow as a precondition.
Which implant method is right for you?
The goal is not to place as many implants as possible, but to place exactly the right ones. Seongmo Dental Clinic analyzes your jawbone condition, remaining teeth and general health, and proposes exactly what is needed — no more.
| Method | Number of implants / composition | Best suited for |
|---|---|---|
| Overdenture | 2–4 implants + removable full denture | Edentulous patients · uncomfortable with existing dentures · cost-conscious |
| IARPD | A small number of implants + RPD-type partial denture | Partially edentulous patients with remaining natural teeth |
| Full-arch implants | 12–20 implants + crowns/bridges | Patients who want results closest to natural teeth |
| All-on-X | 4–8 implants + MUA + fixed full-arch prosthesis | Full-arch reconstruction + wanting a same-day provisional |
| Full mouth rehabilitation | VDO elevation + full-arch redesign | Severe wear · collapsed bite · accompanying TMJ symptoms |
※ The final method is decided after precise 3D CT diagnosis.
① Implant Overdenture — for edentulous patients, cost-effective
Suitable for patients who have lost all or nearly all of their teeth. 2–4 implants are placed, and a removable full denture is clipped onto them — offering far better retention and chewing function than a conventional denture.
Best suited for:
- Those whose current dentures are loose and make chewing difficult
- Older patients who want to reduce cost burden
- Those who need easy repair/replacement as the gums change over time
② IARPD (Implant-Assisted Removable Partial Denture) — a partial denture option
For patients with some remaining natural teeth: implants are placed, a prosthesis is connected on top, and it is worn as an RPD (removable partial denture). The implants act as support points, reducing the load on the remaining natural teeth. Reported implant survival rates are 91–100%.
Best suited for:
- Those who have some natural teeth remaining
- Those who want to reduce the number of implants placed to save on cost
- Those bothered by the looseness of a conventional partial denture
③ Full-Arch Implants — closest to natural teeth
One implant per missing tooth, typically 12 to as many as around 20, connected with crowns and bridges. This achieves chewing force and aesthetics closest to natural teeth, and being fixed in place, requires no removal.
Best suited for:
- Those who prioritize chewing strength and appearance above all
- Those who find a removable denture inconvenient
- Those who can accommodate a longer treatment period and more visits
④ All-on-X (Full-Arch Implants) — the latest trend, same-day provisional
4–8 implants are strategically placed in each of the upper and lower jaws, angles are corrected with MUA, and a fixed full-arch prosthesis is attached. This is a highly advanced technique that only an experienced practitioner can perform, and it is more cost-effective than placing many individual implants.
Best suited for:
- Those who have lost most of their teeth or are scheduled for extraction
- Those who do not want to go without teeth during treatment
- Those who have been told they lack sufficient jawbone
⑤ Full Mouth Rehabilitation — advanced full-arch reconstruction
When the function and appearance of the entire dentition have broken down, this advanced full-arch reconstruction redesigns the bite of the entire upper and lower jaws, accompanied by vertical dimension of occlusion (VDO) elevation. Digital Smile Design (DSD) and a 3D surgical guide simulate the final prosthetic shape in advance.
Best suited for:
- Those whose tooth height has been reduced by severe wear/attrition
- Those whose bite has collapsed, accompanied by TMJ symptoms
- Those who need full-arch reconstruction including implants and prosthetics
If you have almost no teeth left, why consider All-on-X?
All-on-X is an advanced technique that fits a fixed full-arch prosthesis using 4–8 implants, and when conditions are met, a same-day provisional is possible. Angles are corrected using MUA (multi-unit abutments), so it can be applied even when jawbone volume is insufficient.
Seongmo Dental Clinic uses genuine fixtures (Osstem, MegaGen, Neo, IBS) for All-on-X, and builds the prosthesis with MUA + custom abutments, a titanium milled bar, and zirconia crowns to minimize the long-term risk of fracture. This is an advanced technique that only an experienced practitioner can perform.
What is MUA (Multi-Unit Abutment)?
A specialized abutment connected on top of an angled implant fixture to correct the angle so the prosthesis faces the correct direction. It is the most important component in All-on-X.
Why tilted implant placement?
When there isn’t enough bone in the posterior region, tilting the implant forward secures a support point over a wider area without the need for a sinus lift or extensive bone grafting.
Digital design of custom abutments
A digital implant workflow combining a Primescan intraoral scan with scan bodies precisely designs custom abutments, maximizing the fit of the prosthesis.
3D-printed surgical guide
Depending on the case, a surgical guide is fabricated so implants can be placed at exactly the planned angle and depth.
Seongmo Dental Clinic's All-on-X Treatment Flow
01. Precise diagnosis — 3D CT + Primescan
HDX Dentri 3D CT analyzes bone volume, bone density and the position of the maxillary sinus, while the Primescan scanner performs a digital scan of the mouth. Whether immediate loading is possible, and the number, position and angle of implants, are planned.
02. Extraction + fixture placement
After extracting remaining teeth, genuine fixtures are placed in strategically chosen positions. If a sinus lift or bone graft is needed, it is performed at the same time, rebuilding the bone defect with a resorbable collagen membrane and graft material.
03. Same-day provisional fitted — DAY 1
When initial stability conditions are met, a provisional tooth is connected on the day of surgery, eliminating any period without teeth.
04. Osseointegration period — 1.5–6 months
The period during which the fixture fully fuses with the jawbone while the provisional is maintained. A healing abutment is fitted as needed to shape the gum, and the duration varies with bone quality and location.
05. Final prosthesis completed — titanium milled bar + zirconia
After osseointegration is confirmed, a zirconia crown is fitted onto a titanium milled bar frame, completing a sturdy full-arch prosthesis that lasts long without fracturing.
After extracting an upper molar, what if there isn't enough jawbone?
Sinus lift is a technique that lifts the membrane inside the maxillary sinus and places bone graft material to rebuild the bone. It requires a high degree of surgical precision and delicacy.
When the maxillary sinus has dropped low and the jawbone (alveolar bone) is very thin and weak, a sinus lift is needed. The membrane inside the maxillary sinus is lifted to create space, the bone is rebuilt with a collagen membrane and graft material, and then the fixture is placed. Sterilization and infection-control protocols follow the Korean Dental Association’s guidelines, and because leaving a missing-tooth site untreated for a long time enlarges the maxillary sinus, prompt treatment is important.
01. Precise cutting with ultrasonic vibration
Piezo instruments cut only bone tissue while preserving the membrane. Compared to conventional rotary instruments, piezo instruments preserve the sinus membrane more safely, lowering the average membrane perforation rate from 24% to 8%.
02. A variety of crestal elevation techniques
Even with the crestal (ridge) approach, the optimal instrument — osteotome, hydraulic lift device, LAS, etc. — is selected and safely applied according to the patient’s condition.
03. Safety of lateral elevation
With piezo lateral sinus lift, the reported membrane perforation rate is 3.6% or lower, greatly reducing the risk of vessel damage and membrane perforation.
Clinical basis for sinus lift: see the academic guidelines of the Korean Dental Association (kda.or.kr).
One price, from fixture to crown
Our implant fee includes the fixture, a custom abutment and a zirconia crown. There is no separate abutment or crown charge added later, and every fee below is published in advance.
| Fixture brand | Fee (incl. custom abutment + zirconia crown) |
|---|---|
| MegaGen, Neo | ₩800,000 |
| Osstem SA | ₩900,000 |
| IBS | ₩1,200,000 |
| Osstem SOI | ₩1,200,000 — faster osseointegration; in eligible cases prosthetics at about 2 months (upper) / 1.5 months (lower) |
| Straumann | ₩1,600,000 — Roxolid alloy with SLActive surface; healing shortened to roughly 3–4 weeks |
Included with every brand: 3D CT diagnosis, custom abutment, genuine zirconia crown, a 7-year fixture warranty and lifetime storage of your prosthetic data. Interest-free installments of up to 12 months are available depending on your card issuer.
Bone grafting, when it is needed
When bone volume is insufficient, grafting is performed alongside placement using premium collagen graft material and a barrier membrane. Simple grafting is ₩200,000, standard ₩300,000 and complex ₩500,000; sinus lift is ₩500,000 (standard) or ₩800,000 (complex). The need for grafting is confirmed on 3D CT and quoted in writing before treatment begins.
Full-arch treatment (All-on-X)
When few or no teeth remain, an entire arch can be restored on four to eight implants. A hybrid (PMMA/acrylic) restoration starts at ₩6,900,000 for the lower arch, ₩7,900,000 for the upper arch and ₩11,900,000 for both; a zirconia restoration on a titanium bar starts at ₩8,500,000, ₩9,500,000 and ₩14,000,000 respectively. Both options are built on multi-unit abutments, so in eligible cases a full-arch provisional can be fitted on the day of surgery or the following day.
Optional procedures
Guided (navigation) surgery based on 3D CT planning is ₩100,000 for the first implant and ₩50,000 for each additional one, capped at ₩300,000 per arch. An immediate provisional tooth in the front region is ₩100,000 per tooth, so the aesthetic gap after extraction is covered on the same day.
Comfort during surgery
Implant surgery follows the same three-step anesthesia protocol used throughout the clinic: topical anesthesia, computer-controlled injection with an ultra-fine needle (i-ject), and intraosseous anesthesia (QuickSleeper 5) for teeth and sites that are difficult to numb.
Implant treatment can involve side effects such as pain, swelling, bleeding or infection depending on individual oral and general health. Same-day placement, immediate provisionals and treatment duration are case-dependent and confirmed after examination. Fees listed are standard fees and may vary with the diagnosis; a written estimate is provided before treatment.
What should you check when choosing an implant dental clinic in Seoul?
Seongmo Dental Clinic is a Seongbuk-gu, Seoul implant clinic equipped with the same-spec abutments used at Seoul National University Dental Hospital, HDX Dentri 3D CT, a digital implant workflow, and EXPlasma Z7 low-temperature plasma sterilization.
01. Genuine fixtures · same-spec abutments
We use verified genuine fixtures — Osstem SA/SOI, MegaGen, Neo, IBS — and fabricate prosthetics with abutments of the same specification as Seoul National University Dental Hospital.
02. Precise planning with 3D CT + Primescan
HDX Dentri low-dose 3D CT provides a three-dimensional analysis of bone condition. Primescan digital scanning, with roughly 20μm precision, reduces impression-taking error compared to conventional rubber impression material.
03. 3D-printed surgical guide
Depending on the case, a digital surgical guide is 3D-printed so implants can be placed at exactly the planned angle and depth, minimizing error wherever applicable.
04. Quicksleeper · i-ject painless anesthesia
Even for patients with anesthesia anxiety or difficult cases, Quicksleeper intraosseous anesthesia delivers an immediate anesthetic effect.
05. ACTILINK surface activation
Fixtures, bone graft material, membranes, abutments and prosthetics are all surface-treated with ACTILINK for hydrophilicity, increasing the early osseointegration rate.
06. EXPlasma Z7 low-temperature plasma sterilization
Even instruments that could be damaged by high-temperature, high-pressure autoclaving — rubber packers, rubber impression material, surgical guides — are fully sterilized along with every other instrument used.
Primescan · Primemill · SpeedFire — Seongmo Dental Clinic’s in-house digital prosthetic system.
In short, the criteria for choosing an implant dental clinic in Seoul are precise diagnostic equipment, genuine materials and a sterilization system — and Seongmo Dental Clinic offers all three when performing implant treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions about Implants in Seoul
Implant
Treatment that places a titanium fixture (artificial tooth root) at a missing tooth site and connects a prosthesis. Surrounding teeth are not filed down, and chewing force and aesthetics are restored to the level of natural teeth.
MUA (Multi-Unit Abutment)
A specialized abutment connected on top of a tilted fixture to correct the direction of the prosthesis. A core component of All-on-X.
Sinus Lift
A technique that lifts the maxillary sinus membrane and places bone graft material when there is insufficient jawbone in the posterior upper jaw. With piezo instruments, the membrane perforation rate is 8% or lower.
Osseointegration
The process by which a titanium fixture biologically fuses with the alveolar bone. Takes 1.5–6 months depending on bone quality and location.
Does implant surgery in Seoul hurt a lot?
Surgery is performed under anesthesia, so there is little to no pain during the procedure itself. For patients who fear the injection itself, Quicksleeper intraosseous anesthesia and i-ject painless injection are applied in stages. Post-operative pain varies by individual, but in most cases it is manageable with prescribed pain medication.
How long does implant treatment take?
When immediate placement after extraction is possible, the number of surgical visits is reduced, and when conditions are met, a same-day provisional tooth can even be fitted. This is followed by 1.5–6 months of osseointegration, after which a precise Primescan scan is taken and the final prosthesis is fitted. The overall duration can vary with the extent of bone grafting.
How long do implants last?
How long an implant lasts varies greatly depending on oral hygiene, regular checkups and bite management. Implants cannot get cavities, but peri-implantitis (inflammation around the implant) can occur, so they need to be cared for like natural teeth to last a long time. Seongmo Dental Clinic provides a 5-year warranty after the prosthesis is completed, along with regular follow-up care.
Is bone grafting always necessary for implants in Seongbuk-gu?
It is necessary when the jawbone has been significantly damaged or resorbed, but if the gums are strong and healthy, surgery is possible without bone grafting. Seongmo Dental Clinic first confirms whether bone grafting is needed through 3D CT diagnosis, and if there is almost no jawbone remaining, bone grafting is performed to ensure long-term use.
Can I still get implants if I have a condition like high blood pressure or diabetes?
Implant surgery is possible even with high blood pressure, diabetes or heart disease. However, you must be sure to inform us in advance of any medications you are taking and any conditions you have been diagnosed with before treatment.
What is MUA (Multi-Unit Abutment)?
A specialized abutment connected on top of an angled fixture to correct the direction of the prosthesis. In All-on-X, when there is insufficient jawbone in the posterior region, implants are placed at an angle (tilted) and MUA is used to correct the angle before connecting a bridge prosthesis.
What is the difference between All-on-X and full-arch implants?
All-on-X fits a fixed full-arch prosthesis using 4–8 implants, reducing the number of surgeries and visits, and a same-day provisional is also possible. Full-arch implants place one implant per tooth — typically 12 to as many as around 20 — giving results closest to natural teeth, but with greater cost and duration.
I have no teeth at all (fully edentulous) — which treatment is right for me?
For fully edentulous patients, an implant overdenture or All-on-X is suitable. An overdenture uses 2–4 implants to secure a removable full denture, offering high cost efficiency, while All-on-X uses 4–8 implants to fit a fixed prosthesis, restoring function closest to natural teeth. Seongmo Dental Clinic proposes the most suitable method after precise diagnosis.
When is full mouth rehabilitation needed?
This applies when tooth height has been reduced by severe wear/attrition, when multiple teeth have been lost and full-arch reconstruction is needed, or when the bite has collapsed with accompanying TMJ symptoms. Full-arch reconstruction accompanied by vertical dimension of occlusion (VDO) elevation restores both function and aesthetics at the same time.
Is a same-day provisional after extraction really possible?
When the initial stability conditions are met — fixture diameter 4.0mm or greater, length 8.5mm or greater, and torque of 30N·cm or higher — a provisional tooth can be fitted on the day of surgery. This is not possible in every case, and the director makes the final decision after 3D CT analysis and confirming the torque value at the time of placement.
※ Side effects such as pain at the surgical site, bite problems, TMJ pain, and altered sensation may occur after implant placement, so it is important to be treated by an experienced medical team. Please make specific treatment decisions after a thorough consultation with your treating clinician. This is the implant information page for Seongmo Dental Clinic, 2 minutes from Exit 2 of Sungshin Women’s University Station, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, and is current as of June 2026.
